Bianca's RED SHOE DIARY
MY PLAYBOY AUDITION
(Translated from french by our dear friend KosmikKreeper).
JULY. 2003.

[ Bianca on the runway during the fashion show.]
As some of you found out during the June 27 chat, I recently auditioned for Playboy for their 50th anniversary. I also took part in 2 consecutive days of fashion shows organized Jillian’s, a Montreal restaurant. To me, Playboy is a magazine full of elegance and beauty. Having the opportunity to pose for them would be an honor and a wonderful experience. I’m always searching for new challenges and I love to seduce. Who knows, maybe I’ll be in a future edition all dressed in latex?!? So instead of going through the details of the audition and the fashion show in the forum, I though it would make a good diary addition since I also have a few shots to show you!
Let’s start from the beginning…. Last year Playboy came to Montreal looking for the perfect girls for their lingerie edition. Since I never read the papers I wasn’t aware that they were in town until a friend of mine gave me a call on the first day of auditions. I got dressed in a fury and flew to the hotel where the recruiting was being held. In my haste I forgot my ID (to prove my age) so I couldn’t audition that day. I went back the next day, the last day of auditions. Just my luck my allergies started acting up and I had a sore throat and watery eyes.
I didn’t really feel in top shape or even sexy for that matter but I thought: why not?! The audition was in a luxury suite of one of the top hotels in Montreal and was basically a photo shoot with the Playboy photographer. He was very nice and took the time to look at my portfolio. I have to say that things evolved in the last year! At that time, the only cover that I had done was Whiplash # 3. I have now appeared on 6 covers, the last one being Heavy Rubber # 11 not to mention all the other features published here and there. [ Image on right: Heavy Rubber #11 cover.] Anyway, the photographer really liked me during the shoot. He took lots of photos but unfortunately I wasn’t chosen. Playboy chose 3 blue-eyed blonds. In spite of it all, the audition was filmed and I found myself in the members section of the Playboy website. A small step made…
This year I was lucky enough to find out about the auditions 3 day prior thanks to one of Angélique’s friend. Without him, I don’t think I would’ve known since I never pick up the newspaper or watch the news.
The auditions weren’t held in a hotel like the previous year but in a shopping center with stores, restaurants and a movie theater. They were held at Jillian’s, a 3-story restaurant/bar/amusement center. I didn’t forget my ID this time!
When I got there at 1pm not a lot of women were waiting. With a nice hairdo and soft makeup done by my friend The Richard, I felt ready to impress the photographer. After signing a few consent forms I showed my portfolio to the organizers and the photographer. They were quite impressed. They really enjoyed the Cuba shots but also shots inspired by The Matrix. Maybe it was a refreshing change from only seeing a bunch of nude shots? I finally got into the billiards room were the shoot was held. As opposed to last year, the setup was pretty banal. No backdrops, no spots… just a Polaroid, the restaurant’s lighting, a wall, a pool table and a sofa... A real playroom! The photographer took shots of me in lingerie (I wore a nice elegant piece by LeJaby) and, of course, a few nudes. But what he seemed to prefer was taking head shots, just like last year. I believe that Playboy’s first criterion is a beautiful face not just a wonderful body… That’s the impression I get from my 2 experiences with them. The audition lasted 15 minutes or so and it couldn’t have gone any better. I really think that I left my mark this time even though I don’t think that I’ll be chosen of the 50th Anniversary edition. They are looking for “the girl next door” just waiting to be discovered. And here I am with many years under my belt and a few covers to boot. I have my reputation, my supporters and my fans. But who knows when my portfolio could be chosen for a special edition. I think it would be to their advantage to shoot a bit more latex with all the movies coming out lately… Anyway, I’ll only know in a couple of weeks if I have been selected. I got to be patient I guess!
As I was leaving from the audition, a man working at Jillian’s (maybe even the owner?) came up and asked me if I wanted to take part in his fashion show. Why not! So I was back at 6:00 pm that evening eating a complementary dinner and chatting with the other girls chosen for the show. They were all very nice. The show started at 10:00 pm and we had to strut down a U-shaped catwalk. There were about 15 of us and we each had 3 outfits to show off: something casual, a bikini and lingerie. I started with my Matrix costume then a sexy pink bikini with wooden platform shoes then I finished off with red lingerie from Chantelle wearing the same shoes. [ No photos were taken the first day. Martin covered the second day.] Since my makeup and hair were already done I didn’t have to use the professionals hired by Jillian’s. I just simply put up or hung down my hair as needed. I have to say that my Matrix outfit didn’t go unnoticed since all the others wore dresses and skirts. There were around 100 guests and photographers in the room. The Playboy photographer was also present and he even came up to be to tell me how beautiful I was. The show lasted many hours because on top of only going on stage one at a time, we had a 10 minute break to change! All this to say that I got
home at around 2:00 am completely exhausted by both the stress of the audition and the show.
I did the fashion show again the following evening. This time I opted for my raspberry –colored gown with black high-heel platform shoes. [ See photo at the top of this page.] Again, I was the only one in latex. I then flaunted a pink and blue bikini supplied by a company in the room looking for models to show off their line. [ Photo on the right.] For the lingerie portion, I wore a black and mauve bustier with hot pants of the same color, fish-net hoses, a black boa and black fabric shoes. But if I would’ve know that the girls would’ve been less conservative this time around, I would’ve worn my blue butterfly pasties with a transparent shawl on my shoulders. It would’ve provoked all sorts of reactions in the room! I love to provoke…. Maybe next time then. There were more people present this time and another Playboy photographer was in the crowd. I never met him but I heard through the grapevine that he found me quite attractive and it wouldn’t be the last they would hear of me. Well… I won’t get too excited for now. When they’ll contact me then I jump of joy! For now I’d rather keep both feet on the ground, if you know what I mean. Anyway, since my hair and makeup were already done at a nearby salon, I decided to show up at 9:00 pm. Thank God because the show didn’t get going until 11:00 pm! There were 25 girls this time (some of them were there the day before and others were new) and I was the 24th to strut down the catwalk. [ See photos at the end of the diary entry.] It was rather long and I wasn’t nervous at all. At least they took out the 10 minute breaks in between each outfit since they were running late. Martin was also there taking photos of the girls. I managed to get him a photographer’s pass. He even found the experience to be somewhat long. He would’ve preferred that the girls didn’t parade one at a time on stage. Even the girls thought this and some were really nervous. A couple of them even chickened out at the last minute. Also, many of the media photographers left halfway through the show since it was past midnight. The show ended very late and we were all very tired. [ Note from Martin: In all honesty, this fashion show was not up to par with the Playboy reputation of quality. I was under the impression that this fashion show was put up together at the last minute with next to no organisation. The lack of dynamic rythm in the fashion, the pace at which the girls were sent on the runway one after the other, the lack of proper lighting (we could barelly see the girls), and the location (in a bar/games room!) made this fashion show look very amateurish. Fortunatly, the girls gave their 100% and they saved the day. But to call this a Playboy Fashion Show was quite a letdown and in my opinion was more a publicity stunt than anything else.]
But in spite of all this, I had the opportunity to experience a beautiful moment. I would like to thank this mysterious man who chose me for the fashion show. He knows who he is. Thanks to him I managed to be seen by many influential people in the field, had a great dinner at Jillian’s, got a very sexy bikini and most of all I got to show myself off in latex in front of a charming audience. Long live latex! :-) And long live Montreal’s beautiful women!
