Many email me asking how to meet women and men who love latex or who are into the fetish scene.
Some also ask me what to do if where they live there is no fetish club. Others ask me what the
atmosphere is like in these clubs. Some people even ask me where to buy latex clothing...
These are a bunch of interesting questions. I will try to answer them as logically as possible.
First, it is true that you can meet fetishists on the Internet, for example in chatrooms. It is also true that
there are not many women on these chats and that, anyway, there are not many chances to get to really
know them. Aside from the chats and personals on the Internet, what else is there? You know the
answer : fetish clubs. But what's a fetish club? Do people have sexual contacts there? Is
everyone wearing clothes? Are there only couples? Are people nice? Is there music?...
Many questions. Questions that result from curiosity and often from fear. That's normal, humans are
afraid of what they don't know. But the human being is also able to go against its doubts and fears.
And I insist on this point because I even know some, here in Montreal and the area, who whine about
not knowing anyone but who don't do anything about it. Well, you have to take your courage and confront the public.
Ok. To get back to what I was saying, there are two types of fetish events in Montreal : The Fetish Funhouse and Cabaret, and the Fetish Nights presented by IlBolero. The Fetish Funhouse is a place that can only hold only
about 60 persons. It's a club open on Friday and Saturday nights, even sometimes on Thursday nights,
between 10pm and 3am. The cafe's owner, Kate, is a very cordial person who opens her doors to
respectful and friendly people. People are all dressed. Sometimes, there are even theme nights like
"vixens & villains". There is music just loud enough to have a good beat, but not too loud, so people
can hear each other well. There is no dancing because the place is too small. Rooms are lit to candles
and soft lights.
The atmosphere is intimate, and people can chat while drinking a beer. There are also two rooms
forming a dungeon where bondage and spanking can be practiced. There's even a small nursery for
needle practices. I know that many don't know that thes practices are. I tried to describe them several
times without success so I won't lose my time and I'll soon show you some images. So, in these two
rooms, people can practice BDSM but all types of sexual contact are forbidden. You can dress fetishy, or almost not dress at all. BUt no genitals showing is allowed. You meet people similar to you, and fun is always present. In a word : with time,
this place becomes like a second family.
Personally, if you come to Montreal, I think that's the ideal occasion to chat and meet new people.
The Fetish Nights are different from the Cafe. They happen every first Saturday of the month and
they happen at a dance club in Montreal. It's mainly the owners of the Il Bolero boutique who make
them happen. Everyone, with no exception, is wearing fetish clothing. There is dancing and drinking.
At the second floor, there is a tiny lounge to be able to chat a bit more easily. There are no fetish
stages, so we don't see any bondage or spanking. However there are masters and slaves ;) But the
game isn't pushed as much as at the Cafe. The music is techno-dance and the lighting is nice. The
place is a bit small for this kind of event since there is dancing. So this is a place that will make happy
the ones who want to dance and move while wearing fetish clothing.
Ok, I quickly gave you an idea of the two fetish clubs in Montreal. Here are two other examples. I
have also seen the Baronness' fetish balls in New York, and I would compare them to the Fetish
Nights we have here, but bigger and with fashion shows. I have also seen Masquerade (see my photo on their front page!), which I wrote
about, and then again, it's like a big party, but very private (anything goes!). Also, I know that there are some fetish clubs in
Europe which allow sexual intercourse. I also know that there are other types of fetish clubs in San
Francisco. Actually, I invite people of elsewhere who hang out at fetish clubs to tell me about them in
the message board (not by email). This way, we'll get to know about more about what goes on
elsewhere in the world. But in general, this what the fetish clubs are like. What's important to
remember is : wear the clothes you like, have fun, and maybe meet someone for you! You must not be
afraid to do the first step and tell yourself some night "why not get my latex out of the closet and show
it to others?" Nobody will point at you when you enter the club. No one will laugh at you. We're
basically all the same.. we're like a team. I don't even go out much in normal dance clubs because
there are too many disrespectful and harrassing men. I never had this problem at the Cafe...
Now if you want to know where are the fetish clubs and events in your area, you have three places
where to look : the Internet, fetish magazines, and good sex shops. I'm sure that one of these three
alternatives will suit you. Same for people looking for latex clothing : check out the shops on the
Internet or in your city. If you live in a place where there is no fetish club, I'm sorry for you. But in
my opinion, there's always a way to save up and have a small fetish trip. It's always definitely worth
it. And the trip is only fetish at night, and during the day you'll have plenty of places to visit, that's
for sure!
I hope I lightened up the mystery a bit. I also hope that I incited some people to visit fetish clubs and
mostly, that I cheered up the shy or scared ones. The first time I was in front of the doors of a fetish
club, the Funhouse Cafe, I was scared to enter. I was afraid too, believe me. But when I got ahold of
my courage and finally entered, I found a magical place where fantasy and openmindness is allowed.
And since that day, it has become my second family...
